With so many things to do, you might not know where to begin. Here are some of the top attractions and events that you definitely can’t miss out on.

White Rock Lake

Looking for a peaceful Summer escape? White Rock Lake offers 1,015 acres and nine miles of trails for you to explore. You’ll be mesmerized by the beautiful views and picturesque scenery. With hundreds of species of wildlife, trees, and plants, you’ll find yourself stopping at every turn to admire them. White Rock Lake is a bird watcher’s paradise. Pelicans, ducks, owls, and geese roam wild, and if you look carefully, you may even spot a few domesticated parakeets along the way!

If you’re looking to spend your day on the water, The Corinthian Sailing Club hosts sailboat racing on Sundays and Wednesdays all Summer long. Prefer to canoe or kayak? No problem! White Rock Lake has plenty of rentals to choose from.

Dallas Museum of Art

Perfect for a romantic afternoon or an educational day trip for the kids, the Dallas Museum of Art offers free admission year-round. With over 22,000 impressive works of art, you can spend hours strolling from exhibit to exhibit. You’ll feel as though you’re walking through the centuries as you gaze at each unique art display, spanning from historical relics to modern masterpieces.

In the mood for some music? Head over to the Dallas Museum of Art on Friday nights for live jazz concerts with food and cocktails.

Pecan Lodge

Barbecue is a Texas staple, so it’s no surprise that Pecan Lodge is a favorite among Dallas restaurant-goers. This family-owned BBQ joint, which was featured on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives, serves delicious food in Texas-sized portions. It’s the perfect place to go when you and your family find yourselves craving a little bit of Southern comfort. Plus, the menu prices are so reasonable, you’ll have all the more reason to save room for dessert.

Pecan Lodge also features live music and entertainment almost every night of the year.

Klyde Warren Park

Located in the heart of downtown Dallas, Klyde Warren Park offers something for everybody, and best of all, it’s free. Bring the kids, and sit back and relax on the beautiful open lawn. They’ll love the children’s park which features interactive fountains and a magical storytelling tree.

If you prefer to have the day all to yourself, bring a book, and grab a bite to eat at one of the many food trucks. You may also choose to sit down and dine at Savor, Klyde Warren Park’s very own gastropub.

Klyde Warren Park also offers hundreds of free daily events and classes, including live music shows, Zumba classes, yoga sessions, and more. Be sure to check out the park’s event calendar to stay up-to-date on all of the latest Summer happenings.

Katy Trail

With wide lanes for biking, running, and walking, Katy Trail is a scenic getaway for exercise enthusiasts. It’s also the ideal place to go when you simply want to take a relaxing Summer stroll surrounded by nature. On especially hot days, the beautiful towering trees provide you with just the right amount of shade.

There are also a number of fun and convenient stops along the way, including the Katy Trail Icehouse where you can purchase a cold refreshment and take a few minutes to cool down by the misting fans. Most of the restaurants along the trail are dog-friendly, so if your pooch just so happens to be your favorite exercise buddy, don’t worry. You’ll be in good company.
